Individualized Support
We specialize in serving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and creating person-centered programs that combine personal choice and community integration with professional oversight, family involvement and stability.
History
Since opening our residential programs in 2006, Delaware MENTOR has offered a range of innovative, community-based programs for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We are apart of Sevita (previously The MENTOR Network), a national network of local health and human services providers operating across the country. Through this partnership, we are able to leverage the strengths and resources of a national organization to develop local programs tailored to the needs of citizens throughout The First State.
Hourly Services to Support Independence
After the successful launch of our residential programs, Delaware MENTOR expanded our services to offer Hourly Support Services to help individuals live independently or with family members in the community. In our hourly support program, we assist individuals by offering designing services that fit their needs and lifestyle. Whether an individual needs help shopping for groceries, performing household chores, learning how to use public transportation, or developing social skills and participating in community activities, our hourly support program is designed to leverage each person’s strengths so they may become more independent.
Skill Building and Enrichment
In 2009, Delaware MENTOR launched our innovative Day Program supporting people throughout the Millsboro area. Our structured day program provides numerous opportunities for individuals to build skills and offers on-site clinical support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities as well as complex medical, behavioral and physical challenges. Today, Delaware MENTOR’s day program supports more than 25 individuals with complex medical needs as well as behavioral challenges and we’ve recently expanded our space to include a specialized therapy room for sensory development, large activity areas, nurse’s station and areas for physical and occupational therapy consultations.
As we look to the future, Delaware MENTOR looks forward to continuing to provide innovative, quality services to meet the needs of individuals of all abilities and their families.
